Arduino prototype.

Fiodor turns a plant into a bionic pet, take care of it and watch it grow. It interacts with people through gestures when it is in need of water or light. If you don’t take care of it –unlike an artificial pet– it might die!

Artificial pets are human companions kept for amity and enjoyment. Robotic dogs are used in nursing homes in Japan to treat depression and loneliness, in an attempt to replace human affection. As Artificial Intelligence moves forward these companions will have a growing role in our lives. Our aim was to use technology to infuse a plant with a relatable behaviour.

Fiodor has feelings.

It expresses through gestures and movements when it is in need of water or light.
